On December 08 and 09, 2016 the delegation of the Supreme People's Court of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam led by its Vice-President, Mr. Bùi Ngọc Hoà, has visited the Slovak Republic at the invitation of the President of the Supreme Court of the Slovak Republic, Ms. Daniela Švecová. The visit took place on the basis of the Memorandum of Cooperation concluded between the Supreme Court of the Slovak Republic and the Supreme People's Court of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in June 2014.
Ms Daniela Švecová along with the representatives of the divisions of the Supreme Court of the Slovak Republic has hosted the delegation on Friday December 09, 2016 on the premises of the Supreme Court of the Slovak republic. They discussed the topics of the role of the supreme courts within the judicial system in both countries, manner of selection of candidates for the judicial function, training of judges and administration and financing of the judiciary. Different systems of courts administration and the role of the Ministry of Justice therein were compared. In Vietnam, the Supreme People's Court of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam is responsible for administration of lower instance courts, training and selection of judges.
The President of the Supreme Court has informed the delegation from Vietnam on the current changes in the Slovak judiciary including the changes in the selection of candidates for the judicial function and the recent recast of the law of civil procedure. The representatives of the divisions of the Supreme Court spoke about the activities and specifics of the divisions' work mainly with respect to this recast.
The participants of the meeting have highly regarded the importance of such exchange of experience and expressed their hope in having the opportunity to meet again.
During their visit the Vietnamese delegation has also met with the Secretary of State from the Ministry of Justice of the Slovak Republic, Ms. Mária Kolíková.
